Covid-19 Restrictions

Those who plan to attend – athletes, parents, coaches – are required to read the guidelines set in place for the Round Rock camp. In the linked document there’s a reference to an additional waiver. That waiver will be shared on odpswz.wordpress.com as soon as it’s completed.

Online Parent Meeting and Town Hall

On Thursday, September 24 we will host an ODP SWZ Parent Meeting via Zoom from 7:00 PM to 8:45 PM. It will include a 10-20 minute discussion of this season – calendar, COVID status, coaching changes, selection criteria, etc. – with Head Coach James Smith. That will be followed by a Town Hall meeting during which USA Water Polo Texas Growth Manager Joe Linehan will lead a discussion, along with several parents of current and former athletes, about the role of ODP in growing the sport in our region. A Zoom invitation will be published as soon as it is arranged.

This meeting will replace the one we traditionally do in person at the beginning of each camp. We will not be meeting parents as a group in person at the Round Rock camp.

Volunteers Needed

For those families that plan on attending one of the two days of the Round Rock camp we are looking for volunteers to fill these roles (and maybe others TBD):

  • Temperature Checker: We will provide two touchless thermometers to volunteers who will verify that any athlete or coach does not display a temperature over 100.4 degrees upon entry. Health care professionals are encouraged.
  • Check-in: One person to simply check ID and registration check of athletes upon entry. The volunteer will not be distributing caps to the athletes as they have in the past.
  • Covid Physical Distancing Monitor: We ask for two volunteers who will be deputized (!) to enforce the two-meter distancing rule among spectators, and monitor the restrooms so only one athlete is using them at a time.

Volunteer forms will be published in the coming days.

We’re excited to get the season started and look forward to seeing you… masked and near the deck but not actually on it.

James

  1. Hello Mr Smith – is it still possible to register my son for the 9/27 Camp? I’d be more than happy to volunteer too. Thank you!

    1. I’m afraid the boys’ camp 1 in Round Rock is sold out (more quickly than I’ve ever experienced). More coming soon.
